Spot treat small stains
Identify the stain and assess its type, as different stains may require different treatments. Treat any stains using a soft cloth, detergent and luke warm water. Gently dab the stain without rubbing, especially on delicate fabrics, since this can damage the fibers or spread the stain. If the stain is stubborn, let the detergent sit for a few minutes before continuing to dab. Rinse the area with clean, luke warm water to remove the remaining detergent. Wash the t-shirt according to the following instructions if needed.
Remove sweat stains from the armpit
Yellow stains in t-shirt armpits is a common issue, often caused by a combination of sweat and deodorants. Here are some efficient methods to remove these stains.Baksoda and water: Combine baking soda with water until it forms a thick paste and apply it directly to the yellow stains. Let it sit for 30 minutes and then gently scrub before rinsing and then washing the garment as instructed.
White wine vinegar and water: Soak the affected area of the gamrent in a solution of equal parts white vinegar and water for about 30 minutes. Then wash the garment as usual. The vinegar helps dissolvedeodorant residue and neutralise odours.
Stain remover: Soak the garment in stain remover and let it sit for a few minutes. Wash the garment according to the instructions.
Lemonjuice and salt: Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the stain and sprinkle salt on top. Gently rub the mixture into the fabric and let sit for a few hours before you rinse and was the garment. Try these methods and see which one works best for your garment.
Preventative tips:
- Let your deodorant dry completely before putting on your t-shirt. Låt deodoranten torka helt innan du tar på dig t-shirten.
- Wash your t-shirts regularly and avoid the build-up of sweat stains over time.
Wash your t-shirt
- Always follow the care instructions on the label. Different materials such as cotton, polyester or blends, require different care. If the label is unclear, choose a gentle wash cycle that is safe for most fabics.
- Use a mild detergent to avoid harming the fabric or bleach the colours. For white t-shirts you can use a detergent specially formulated for white fabrics.
- The lower the wash temperature, the gentler it is for the garment and the environment. For t-shirts with stubborn stains, pre-treat the stains before washing it instead of raising the temperature.
- Sort laundry by colour, material and care instructions to avoid colours being destroyed or fabrics being damaged.
- Turn the t-shirt inside out before wash to protect prints or embroidery from wear.
- Air dry the t-shirt to maintain its shape and quality. Avoid tumble drying to reduce wear and tear, protect the environment and prevent shrinking.
Store your t-shirt
T-shirts are best kept folded or rolled. Fold or roll the shirt and place it on a shelf or in a drawer to prevent creases and unnecessary stretching. For printed t-shirts, folding is recommended to minimise the risk of cracking or damage to the print. Consider folding with the print facing outward or using tissue paper between folds for extra protection. For seasonal storage, choose a cool, dry place to protect against moisture and mold. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can cause colours to fade over time.Ironing
Iron or steam the t-shirt on a low to medium heat setting and always follow the advice on the care label. Keep in mind that different material and any prints, might have specific temperature requirements to avoid damage. For delicate materials such as silk or viscose, it's often better to use a steamer tinstead of an iron. Hang the t-shirt on a hanger and steam it slowly from top to bottom to remove creases. Protect the t-shirt by turning it inside out. Especially if it is made from a delicate material or has prints.
Tips!
- Iron or steam the t-shirt wile it is still slightly damp to make it easier to remove creases.- If the t-shirt has details such as lace or embroidery, avoid ironing directly on these areas; place a cloth or towel between the iron and the fabric.
- Allow the t-shirt to cool completely before wearing or folding it to maintain its smooth surface.
Think sustainably
- Only wash when needed.- Repair your garment instead of buying a new one.
- If you no longer want your garment, sell or donate it to help protect the environment.
