There are those who prefer a more conservative style, and who regularly claim that the correct attire for New Year's is a tuxedo, while others choose to deviate from the traditional. Regardless of whom you are and what your opinion is, there are several ways to dress up, depending on what you feel comfortable wearing, but not least depending on the evening’s dress code. Below we go through some classic New Year styles in differing degrees of formality.
Tuxedo

The tuxedo is the classic, stylish option for New Year’s Eve, being a dress code not to be compromised on. Choose a black tuxedo or a stylish, midnight blue alternative paired with a silk bow tie and patent leather shoes. Then choose between wearing braces or a cummerbund.

Suit

A suit is a somewhat more toned down and less formal alternative to a tuxedo. A classy blue or grey suit paired with a white shirt and formal shoes will be perfect for the occasion. Choose between a bowtie or a tie, combined with a pair of oxford or derby shoes. Why not switch things up and try a rollneck under your blazer instead of a shirt if you want an even more casual outfit. Choose the attire based on the type of occasion you are attending.
Casual New Year

Perhaps you don't fall into one of the above categories, or you still want an outfit that stands out from the crowd? Maybe you are celebrating New Years at home, but still want to feel dressed-up. Pair casual garments to this home suit with dressy accessories such as a scarf, watch or jewellery, adding to a more formal feeling.
