Three films to draw inspiration from for a successful style this autumn

Skyfall

Casino Royale is said to be Daniel Craig's best Bond film, but Skyfall is not far behind. The twenty-third installment in James Bond's quest to save the world is, in addition to being an exciting spy movie, a smorgasbord filled with some of the British agent's best clothing styles. Among our personal favorites are the perfect gray suit from the opening scene, the tailored captain's jacket from the Shanghai scenes, and above all, the Barbour-dominated outfit that Bond wears during the last quarter of the film. The jacket that Bond wore has become somewhat iconic and is still available here with us.
Three Days of the Condor

Three Days of the Condor is a spy film as far removed from James Bond as one can get. Robert Redford's character Joe Turner, codename Condor, works as an analyst for a CIA unit whose sole task is to sift through newly released books in search of leaked government secrets. When he witnesses the murder of his colleagues, it marks the beginning of a classic cat-and-mouse game along the East Coast of the United States. Redford not only delivers a strong performance, but also showcases some of his sharpest clothing styles. His style can be described as a combination of academic preppy and military attire. In one scene, he wears a tweed blazer as an outer garment over a casually tied tie, paired with a comically large hat on his head. Later, we see Redford dressed in a sailor jacket, denim shirt, and hiking boots, which can be considered the film's sartorial highlight.
Dead Poets Society

Robin Williams' portrayal of the encouraging and expressive prep school teacher John Keating is, in our opinion, one of the finest performances in film history. And when he ignites the students' curiosity and creativity at the strict prep school in Vermont, it’s as much “feel-good” as it can get. Dead Poets Society takes place in the 1950s and showcases a classic American East Coast style, with plenty of inspiration to draw from. Among the students, thick knitted sweaters, duffel coats, and loafers are mixed with sweatshirts and caps, while the teachers are seen dressed in a more conservative style, dominated by dark suits and tweed jackets.
