Brown takes its place in the wardrobe – how to style brown with brown

Last week we wrote about this year's color of choice, the white color Cloud Dancer. But in this article, we want to champion another color that has its rightful place in the wardrobe – we can call it suede, chocolate, chestnut, or simply: brown.
Like the creamy white color, brown takes up space as a soft and harmonious alternative – less harsh than black, more vibrant than gray, more earthy than blue. It is a color that interacts with light, changes with the material, and provides a naturally harmonious feel. As the wardrobe moves towards fewer but better choices, brown becomes a natural anchor to hold on to.
During fashion week at Pitti Uomo, strong elements of brown continued to be present, not only in tailoring like suits and blazers, but also in knitwear, shoes, and accessories.
The jacket is where color truly gets to showcase its strength. A brown jacket often ages beautifully and gains more life over time, especially in materials like wool, cotton, or suede. The style-conscious dare to pair black trousers with brown loafers, creating a contrast. Just because you're styling brown with brown doesn't mean every piece and detail needs to be brown; we don't have to go overboard. We break it up with a cream-colored knitted sweater that also adds an earthy tone.
In the accessories, the brown color is subtly, yet intentionally, present, providing a clear style detail for the overall look. Belts, watches, and sunglasses in brown tones soften the ensemble and feel more organic than all-black details, which can create a sharper expression.

Brown works because it always has. And perhaps that's exactly why it deserves more space in the wardrobe.
