The label’s roots can be traced back to the early 1900s, when Manhattan tailor Bernard Gantmacher began producing shirt collars in New York’s clothing district. In 1927, Gantmacher and his wife decided to open a factory as a supplier to other brands. The shirts produced there proved to be so popular that Gantmacher and his sons later decided to establish their own brand – Gant.Gants’s clothing is strongly influenced by their preppy heritage – a style which, in turn, was heavily influenced by Gant itself. Since its inception, the brand has symbolised the classic American college style with timeless offerings such as their button-down shirts, khaki chinos and rugby shirts.
