1. RINSE
Rinse your swimwear in cold water, preferably immediately after use. This is to remove salt water, sand and chlorine and preserve the elasticity of the material. It is also a good idea to cover yourself with sunscreen before you leave home. In this way, the sunscreen has time to dry into the skin, and does not smudge into your swimwear quite as much.
2. DO NOT WRING THE WATER OUT OF THE SWIMWEAR
Do not wring the water out of the swimwear. This wears out the fabric unnecessarily and can cause the fit to change. Instead, put the swimwear in a clean, dry towel and roll it up gently, while squeezing out the water and letting it be absorbed by towel. Then let the garment flat- or hang dry based on what the washing thread says.
3. DO NOT DRY IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT
Wet swimwear should preferably not be exposed to direct sunlight. This can adversely affect the quality of the garment, as well as the colour. Therefore, it is a good idea to change swimwear, rest for a while in the shade or wrap a dry towel around the swimwear immediately after a dip.
4. WASH CORRECTLY
Wash your swimwear by hand in cold water and use liquid detergent. Be sure to rinse the garment thoroughly so that no detergent residue remains. If you do not have access to a sink, or feel unsure of temperature and technology, it is good to run the swimwear in a delicate wash program at a maximum of 30 degrees Celsius, but feel free to use a laundry bag and liquid detergent, and avoid softeners and too high RPM on the washing machine.
