The Japanese brand ASICS was founded in 1949 by Kihachiro Onitsuka, who early on realized that sports had the power to lift people’s spirits in post-war Japan. Onitsuka’s belief that movement could heal both body and soul laid the foundation for the brand’s name – Anima Sana In Corpore Sano, a sound mind in a sound body.
