About Classic MDM
Hublot was founded in 1980 by the Italian Carlo Crocco and took its name from the French word for porthole – the round case shape with visible screws in the bezel that became the brand's signature. The early watches, often called MDM after the company name MDM Genève on the dial, broke new ground: Hublot was the first in watchmaking to pair a precious metal case with a rubber strap, a combination that caused a stir but quickly won royalty and celebrities as wearers.
