Despite Tom Ford's quote that shorts should be worn on the beach and on tennis courts, most people will have realised that they can be worn just as well within the city walls. Shorts are a great choice of garment when the temperature and weather are at their most powerful. Not only do they help you keep the heat in check, but they also give you plenty of opportunities to add other garments and experiment with outfits and colours that suit you.
Tone-on-tone

“Chinolino” from Italy’s Incotex are available in three different colours and are made of a cotton and linen blend. The shorts feature side adjusters, front pleats, and the ideal knee length. These are a dressier alternative to shorts, where you can neatly add a tucked-in shirt or knitted polo shirt and feel comfortable. Try with a cable knit jumper, midnight blue suede loafers, and a pair of black Wayfayers.
Creamy white

J.Lindeberg has some of the best shorts this summer. The “Nathan” model in a creamy white shade works with just about any upper garment and has a good length with stretch, providing comfort. We are going for earthy colours here, where an olive green linen shirt meets brown sandals and sunglasses.
Shorts or not?
Whether or not it is appropriate to wear shorts in the city is ultimately up to the wearer. The decision lies more in the occasion. If you are having a business lunch that you know in advance is formal, you should choose long trousers. If, on the other hand, you are going to visit the city, have ice cream and stroll in the park on a hot summer day, a pair of shorts is just right. Opt for midnight blue or beige shorts, with a length that ends just above the knee (sometimes a centimeter shorter depending on the wearer), and in cotton or linen. Also, consider the width of the shorts. You do not want to walk around with a pair of reinforced boxer shorts. The shorts should be able to match your upper body proportions and be comfortable to walk in, without making your thighs feel trapped. The choice of shoes, accessories, and upper garments can be an exciting and easy way to build an interesting look.Do you want to continue where you were?
